It's
another Boy
(Cade gets a Brother)

March
14 (37 weeks) Any day now!
At our weekly Ob/Gyn checkup, we found Tracey is dilated 1 cm, the most
the Cerclage will allow. Everything is pretty tight, and Dr. A
thinks our son will be born over the weekend. But we hope to hold
out until our appointment at the Hospital on Tuesday to have the Cerclage removed and induce Labor.
Mom is ready, and getting a bit anxious. Dad is finally winding
down at work, and shifting gears for Paternity leave. Tracey ordered
another Belly Cast kit, and Cade and Gramma helped us make this sculpture
to preserve her maternal beauty.

February
25 (35 weeks)
It was a nice Spring day and we spent the afternoon at the park.
As you can see, Tracey is getting pretty big. So we're starting to
look forward to the big day with increased anticipation.
We took Cade to the Hospital for a tour, and he enjoyed viewing the new
born babies. But we had a hard time explaining the Umbilical Cord
sticking out of their bellies.
Now, if
we can only decide on a name . . . |
December
2 (23 Weeks)
We made a Holiday visit to the Tree Farm before the Holidays.
Cade pointed out his little brother after we selected and cut our Xmas
Tree. He is well aware of the fact that he is having a baby brother,
and is starting to think about his new responsibilities as a big brother. |
October
28 (18 weeks)
Mom and Dad are out on the town, a nice romantic dinner before the
Theater. We visit the Doctor again on Tuesday to put in a "Cerclage".
That's a little stitch in the Cervix for reinforcement to prevent
premature delivery; a little safety factor, since the Cervix is weakened
from the cumulative effect of many previous dilations. |
 October
11 (17 weeks)
Our fourth UltraSound was in conjunction with the Amniocentesis test.
Everything looks fine, and the lab results confirmed the gender (male) and
did not find any abnormalities. He was quite active, and we might even
have seen him suck his thumb! The image from the bottom showed the
Family Jewels nicely!
We are elated and relieved that everything is working out OK this
time. Click here to
read Tracey's story, which she submitted to "Pregnancy"
magazine. |
September
28 (13 weeks)
Our third UltraSound confirms that he is growing nicely. And from
the bottom, we got a good view and first indications that it's a boy. |
September
6 (10 weeks)
Our second UltraSound shows an awful lot. The head and torso are
well formed, and the arms and legs are moving around.

August 7 (6 weeks)
Everything is fine at our first pre-natal exam. The Heartbeat is
strong (103 bpm), and an ultrasound shows that the embryo is properly
implanted in the uterus. Hormone levels continue to rise, which is a
good thing for the baby, but "Morning Sickness" for Mommy. |
July 22 (4 weeks)
Saturday morning, ready to go biking with the guys, Tracey gives me the
surprise news. She was feeling funny, and on a hunch took the
Pregnancy Test. John and Linda were already at the house, so I had
to send them off without me, and we went in to the Doctor's office for a
blood test, which confirmed the Pregnancy. My parents were in town
for Cade's birthday, so they shared the good news too. But we kept
it too ourselves at the party that evening. This is our Miracle baby
after a tough year of Fertility Treatment. The irony is that after 4
rounds of IVF with disappointing results, we decided to lay off the drugs
for a bit. But, you guessed it, we kept trying, and the next month
got pregnant the old-fashioned way. |
